WHO IS ALEKS?
I’m Aleksandar Sesum, an IT leader with a lifelong passion for technology and people. My story began in Serbia, where my parents sacrificed everything to give us a better future in the United States. Their courage instilled in me a work ethic and determination that continue to drive me every day.

When I was 12, my father handed me an old HP Pavilion computer, big, clunky, and outdated by today’s standards. I tore it apart, reassembled it, and reloaded Windows 7 more times than I can count. That moment was the spark. I wasn’t just curious about technology, I was hooked on understanding how it worked and how it could transform lives.

The road here wasn’t easy. Fresh out of high school, I worked long hours in a factory to pay for my education. I started in Business Administration but quickly realized my true passion was in IT. Making that pivot was one of the boldest decisions of my life, and in 2019 I proudly earned my associate degree in Information Technology.

From day one, I put theory into practice. I worked in IT while finishing school, climbing through roles that shaped my perspective, from IT Business Analyst to Data Center Analyst, Network Operations Analyst, Systems Administrator, and Senior IT Service Delivery Administrator. Each role gave me new skills and a deeper appreciation for the people and processes that keep technology running.

After establishing myself as a Service Delivery leader, I moved into broader leadership roles, first as an IT Technical Services Manager for a major law firm, where I managed complex infrastructure and end-user environments. From there, I transitioned into the enterprise healthcare space as an IT Incident & Service Delivery Manager at a leading cancer diagnostics firm. In less than a year, I was promoted to Manager, IT Service Management Operations, where I now oversee multiple IT functions, lead talented teams of engineers and analysts, and help drive enterprise-wide transformation.

My journey has been anything but linear, but that’s the beauty of it. Every challenge, sacrifice, and opportunity has shaped me into the leader I am today. I believe in perseverance, continuous learning, and the power of technology to not only solve problems but to open doors for others.

With over a decade of professional experience in technology, coupled with years of personal tech exploration, I’ve become a valuable repository of knowledge.
Throughout my career, I have been the go-to resource in every organization I've been part of, reinforcing my belief that knowledge is power. This commitment not only enhances my ability to serve the companies I work for but also fuels my personal and professional growth.

This experience took place right in the heart of the Data Center at Kohl's Corporate, where I had the opportunity to work directly with cutting-edge technology and contribute to a transformative initiative.
MY END GOAL
My ultimate goal is to lead IT with vision, integrity, and impact, harnessing technology to drive operational excellence and business growth. I aim to build resilient, secure, and scalable IT environments that empower teams, streamline operations, and enhance the end-user experience. By fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation, I strive to optimize resources, mitigate risks, and deliver measurable value to both the organization and its stakeholders. My mission is to create IT organizations that are not just responsive, but proactive; anticipating challenges, embracing change, and enabling long-term strategic success.

The photo to the left holds a special place in my heart, symbolizing a transformative period of significant growth in my life, almost 10 years ago now. During this time, I balanced a demanding 12.5-hour third shift in the Data Center, working four days a week while pursuing my college education full-time. Despite the exhaustion, my determination to learn, grow, and excel in my IT and management career never wavered. I embraced this challenge, positioning myself at the forefront of helping organizations thrive through innovation and strategic growth. This experience ignited my passion for technology and leadership, reinforcing my commitment to driving meaningful change in every role I undertake.
